CARING FOR YOUR BRAUER BLADE
There are four things you must do to ensure proper functionality and extend its utility

USAGE AND STORAGE
Like any blade, use other than its intended purpose will result in damage.
Do not throw the knife, as they are not intended for throwing.
Avoid applying later pressure (prying) with the blade. It is a knife, not a pry bar.

THE BLADE
All blades are made of high carbon steels and will rust heavily without proper care.
To inhibit rust, all blades must be stored thoroughly dried and be frequently oiled.
I recommend Hoppe's Gun Oil.
Sharpening: I am a traditionalist and, as such, use stones to sharpen my blades almost exclusively. Check out Murray Carter on YouTube—a true master of the craft and an infinitely better instructor for sharpening than myself—for tutorials on how to properly sharpen a knife.

THE HANDLE
Wooden handles require periodic applications of a wood finish.
I recommend Dye-free Danish oil, it seals and protects the wood appropriately.
Other handles don't require special care.

THE SHEATH
Leather
All leather sheaths are handmade for each blade to ensure a proper fit that prevents personal injury and damage to the blade.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure.
Store leather sheaths in a cool, dry environment.
Wipe your knife dry and clean before reinserting it into the sheath. Do not store your knife in a wet sheath.
Be sure to wipe off accumulated dirt and grime on the exteriors.
Apply an appropriate leather oil every six months, depending on use. I recommend Neatsfoot oil.

KYDEX
A thermoplastic, Kydex is a resilient synthetic material that does not require much in the way of care.
However, the plastic may deform or lose its shape if left in a hot vehicle. Thus, do not leave a Kydex sheath in an extremely hot car.
